Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State congratulated Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as “DON,” following his victory in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Oyekunle, who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured a decisive victory with 18,404 votes against his closest opponent from the APC, who polled 8,312 votes.

Governor Makinde described the victory as a reflection of the confidence and trust the people of Ibadan North have in the PDP administration and its commitment to good governance in Oyo State. Before the election, Makinde had publicly campaigned for Oyekunle, praising his competence, loyalty, and performance during his time as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and as Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor.

The governor stated that Hon. Oyekunle’s emergence would ensure quality representation for the people of Ibadan North at the National Assembly. He also commended party supporters, stakeholders, and residents of the constituency for their massive support and peaceful participation in the electoral process.

Political leaders and party members across Oyo State also joined Governor Makinde in congratulating Oyekunle, describing the victory as a major political achievement for the PDP in the state.
